Driving from Heuston to Parnell Street (Cinema)

This morning I drove into town in rush hour. The slowest part of my journey was the North quays. I turned up Swift's Row beside the Morrisson to get to Parnell Street.

Is there a better way to drive the section from Heuston to Parnell Street?

Looking at the map, I'm wondering if it'd be quicker, or indeed possible, to drive via Temple St West -> Arbor Hill -> Brunswick St North -> Kings St North -> Kings Inns St? http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&z=15&ll=53.348886,-6.277914&spn=0.0176,0.040169&om=1

If not, can anyone suggest an alternative?

That's the way I go..... anything to avoid the quays.

If you coming from the N4 direction, I'd actually avoid Huston Traffic altogether by crossing the liffey @ islandbridge, then take conyngham road & infirmary rd before turning for Arbour Hill...

Excellent, I'll try that tomorrow morning. It looks straightforward enough.

How about for heading home this evening? I can't see any way of avoiding the south quays and Heuston.

I'd suggest you go home via Bolton Street, straight at the tap pub. across the top of Smithfield, King and Queen Street, turn right towards the Law School at Blachall Place, left to James Joyce Bridge and onwards to Heuston.

To get into town tomorrow, try going up Blackhall Place, right onto North Brunswick Street, right at the end then onto Bolton Street and right; this will leave you at the side of the cinema.

I find the quays are great these days. But then, I'm on the bus

Super. As soon as they implement some of the above, close off the park and direct every bit of traffic to only allow them to drive down the quays, traffic should be a delight.

Approximately 60 minutes from Clondalkin to Ormond Quay.

As Victor points out the new 151 bus service could be worth a try, given it routes direct along the New Nangor Road at a high frequency. Journey times from O'Connell Bridge to Grange Castle were reported to be between 50 and 60 minutes in the evening peak last night.

Whilst inbound it serves Ormond Quay, the only drawback for you might be that outbound it operates via Dame Street...but then again a bit of excercise never harmed anyone!

I took the new route this morning. Coupled with a some other shortcuts that I figured out last night I shaved 15 minutes off my journey. Pretty happy with that.

I'll definitely check out that 151 route too.
