Hand from the SE Monthly Deepstack Game

I’m in SB on about 11 K, table average is about 9k, CO has roughly 15k, button about 10k, blinds 150 300 (I think these details are right – went on the beer afterwards so could be off :) )

Table has been pretty tight, button and big blind have been playing a bit looser than the rest of us. CO played very tight for the first few levels, but seems to have become more aggressive in the last half an hour or so (haven’t seen many hole cards so not sure if these reads are correct). I’m not certain what my image is – I’ve been playing pretty tight – but two of the hands I played drew a lot of comments, so not sure what the others think.

Folded around to the CO who raises to 900, button flat calls. I look down at A 10s (clubs). Decide to make a marginal (poor) call. Button folds (surprisingly given his history at the table).

Flop comes A 9 6 rainbow with one club. I check, CO bets 1,700, button folds. I think about throwing my hand away but decide to raise, I make it 4,500. CO thinks for a while and calls. Turn comes 4 to complete the rainbow and I check, ready to fold to any bet. CO checks (?) and the river is a 2.

There is now 12,000 in the pot and I have about 5,500 behind, CO has about 9,000. CO wasn’t too happy about calling the check raise on the flop, and I don’t think the turn or river could have helped him. I put him on an ace with a K/Q/J kicker. I almost certain I’m behind so the only chance to win the pot is to bet.

How badly have I played this hand? Probably a mistake to call pre flop, and perhaps a flat call on the flop rather than sticking extra chips in oop. And given I've managed to get myself into this mess, whats my move now?

If he has AJ or better which is likely he will call you. Hate the check raise on the flop, and not mad about the preflop call either.

As played preflop, check call on flop and check turn. If he checks behind then it is likely you are good against JJ-KK. If turn was check check I would check call river bet in most circumstances probably.

calling preflop is bad here, just let it go

check raising this flop is REAL bad with your holding beacuse almost all worse hands fold, and no better hand folds except MAYBE AJ sometimes. it makes the pot big oop with a crappy holding

given your read on his hand range, c/f. he wont fold for this price with the size of the pot
