GAME Dawson Street Midnight Launch Candidates

Who here has a pre-booking down for the PS3 in GAME on Dawson street?
And also will be showing up for the midnight launch?
Apart from perhaps starting a good conversation, and knowing who I will expect to see, I'm also wondering who would have space in their car for two people and would be driving back up the north of Dublin afterwards?

Taxi fare isn't relatively expensive when you've just bought a ps3.

Midnight launches scare me. One day scumbags are going to cop onto the fact that there's a line of nerds standing about in Dublin city centre at midnight with thousands of pounds in their pockets. It will be a dark day for gaming.

    I don't know why I didn't see that coming, so I guess that's a no then?
I don't consider €50 for a taxi cheap, not when it may have been possible to arrange something better.

Why would anybody go and get their console at midnight? Its cold and there will be wolves....

I was there for the midnight wii launch. It was cold, no wolves but it did take waaay too long. I doubt I'll go for the ps3 one, but instead probably go the next morning.

Though I said the same thing about the wii one... I live pretty close to that branch so it's oh so tempting...

I have enough money easily to buy the console at launch, and providing my 3 pre-bookings pay off, I'll be a happy camper this march with my PS3 and my Wii sitting side by side.

And you can't afford a taxi home?

Are you serious Vyse? What the hell are you talking about?
When did I say I couldn't afford one?I can't even remember posting that, so it must have been quite a while ago, you actually spent time going back to quote that, then post it here.....

As I mentioned above, it's not a matter of affording a taxi, it's a matter of not spending €50 on one if I don't have to.
And the night link only goes as far as swords, there is none any further north Dublin than that after 12.00.

Fair enough, my mistake, but you did post the above (I have a good memory). And I certainly wouldn't be hopping onto the nitelink with a PS3:eek:

    My sentiments exactly.:D
At this stage it looks like I'll have no choice, I wonder will GAME just call of the midnight launch if nobody wants to turn up for it...

I'm assuming your gonna go straight home and stay up for hours playing it?

If not, just wait til the next mornin

I'm going to go home and register for the Blu-Ray movie, test my library of games for BC, and then go to bed to have a full day of gaming the day after.
I just want to go to the midnight launch for the laugh, is nobody else going?
I expected a good few people to go.

Apparently the midnight launch is 100% confirmed for GAME, Dawson Street. They will, again apparently, be the only store in Ireland to host a midnight launch.

There is no way its going match the Wii launch judging by levels of interest, but I may have to work late that night anyway......so will probably drop down. ;)

According to staff, they have taken 70 or so preorders for their allocation of 100+ units, so there will more than likely be units on the shelf on launch day.

Some GAME staff are attending a 'familiarisation' this week and PS3 demo pods are due in store by the end of the week.

And I hope some day, you get a bit of cop on, not likely though, same way it's unlikely I'll get a "dud", unfortunate for you either way I guess.

The wii launch was a bit of a laugh, but I don't think the ps3 one will have the numbers... still, like I said, it's so close to where I live I mightn't be able to resist getting my machine a few hours early :)

I may not bother going, I'll see how I feel on the day.
If GAME know feck all people are going to show up, would they not think to do a 7.30am launch like the Henry street branch did with the Wii?
If I was closer I would go, but I'm too far away for all the hassle.

I wouldn't think it would do a midnight launch as the shopping centre wouldn't be open. It'd probably just be normal opening hours.
