I'm having the UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME on my laptop and don't have my own XP disc but did manage to get one from a friend. Only thing is that its a dell discbut when I put it in it does boot from the disc and go through what its saying is windows setup and i cant see where to get into recovery mode. One question though, if I let the setup complete will all my files still be on the computer or will i just have a working xp with no files.

    Thanks!!

I also got a XP pro disc that can be used, will this work beter?

    Some info here

Pro disk would only work if the existing version of XP was Pro.

Edit: This is also worth a shot. Quicker too.
