ok, I can't post this in the dreaming section as I really need to go unreg!

Two nights ago I had a dream that my dad made me have sex with him, against my wishes, then said if I got pregnant he would make me keep the baby against my wishes!

Last night I had a dream that I began dating my dad and slept with him of my own free will! After a while, I realised it was sick, and wanted to stop seeing him, and he looked really upset, and I felt bad!

Nothing like this has ever happened in real life, and I don't know why I'm having these dreams. They are really sick and bothering me alot, so I want to stop having them!

Does anyone have any idea what they may mean?

Have you any issues with your Dad? Has anything changed right now? Don't sweat it, they're just dreams. It won't last.

If you look at any books about interpreting dreams the interpretation very rarely has a direct correlation to the dreamed image, e.g. death means new beginnings, etc

maybe if a mod could move this to dreaming they would have more input there, i cant think of anything unless there were any issues wit your dad lately

Everybody has unpleasant dreams that they really wish they'd never had. I'd say almost everybody has dreamt about a family member in some form of sexual way, or will at some point in their lives.

Dreams don't have to mean anything. They're your minds way of organising things a lot of the time. Maybe something happened with your dad that caused him to be on your mind a few nights ago. Then you were probably so freaked out after the first dream, you kept thinking about it. I always find that when I think about something/someone a lot, they pop up in my dreams. That was probably the case with the second dream.

Don't worry about it, OP, it doesn't mean you fancy your dad or want to sleep with him or anything!

As Faith says, dreams are basically your recent experiences being arranged in your mind. If you dissect your dream into each significant part, you'll probably be able to them match up to things that you saw/experienced during the previous day(s). From things you saw on tv to things people have said to you. Your brain rearranges all this info and slaps it back together. But you subconsiously want to have some sort of meaning or shape to these thoughts and they get arranged into, often bizarre, stories.

And again, as Faith said, you had that dream the second night because the first dream was on your mind. Don't worry about it.

I honestly wouldn't worry. Yes, dreams like this are disturbing but they are not reality so I wouldn't read too much into it. Any number of reasons why you could have dreamt this, the baby found in Dun Laughaire in the 70s was brought up in the news again last week, http://home.eircom.net/content/unison/national/9931792?view=Eircomnet maybe that was an influence on the content. Honestly nothing to worry about. Sweet dreams ;)

I often find that if i'm think of something a lot during a day, i usually have a dream about it that night, although never really in the way that i imagned them during the day. By the sounds of things the second dream would have occured if you spent the next day thinking about it.

Try to keep you're mind off the dreams and think of something else more pleasent.

"To dream of incestuous practices, signifies erotic desires. It may also be representative of the union between masculine and feminine aspects of yourself. You are in a phase in your life where you are not quite a child and not quite an adult, and thus this dream may be symbolic of the merging of the child and adult within yourself."

"Not ready for sex. Sexually immature. Fear of love."

off 2 diff sites. they kinda condradict eachother, but more or less are about the same thing

    How old are you???

I had a dream once, really vivid, that I was shagging the fat guy from Smith & Jones.
It was so vivid it was really sickening.

I don't know if that says anything about me and Mel Smith.
Because I never paid any attention to him or even watched the programme at the time.

I hope you're getting my point...

If anything, I would say that you are possibly feeling insecure about some major change in your life, or generally just thrown about by something and your brain threw it all together in a mish mash of madness, like brains tend to...
Just look at the thread "randomly stabbing people in the head while I'm talking to them", http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055060456
and all those people were conscious!!!!
or perhaps you ate cheese, either way I personally don't think that its any reflection on you and your father.
Its just your brain doing a bit of tormenting...as brains do.

I cant believe nobody asked what side of puberty your on, I used to get mad insane dreams (see above),when I was in my early to mid teens.

Read something once about parents being role models for kids, and that their future relations with b/f and g/f was affected in some ways. Something about boys subconsciously looking for g/fs like their mother, and girls looking subconsciously for b/fs like their father? Not sure if I buy this, but if there was some merit to it, then just perhaps in your dreams you were looking for a b/f with some characteristics as your father, but not really your father! Dreams are rarely literal in interpretation, and in your confusion, while dreaming, you assumed it was your Da?

I hang out some in the dreamy and sleepy forum, and you probably could find someone that is superior in dream interpretation there.

Dream interpretation is total BS. None of it means anything. There is no deep meaning to be extracted from dreams. Its just random thoughts and images quite often from things you've seen done in the days previously all mixed together.

Ramdom firing of memory synapses. The synapse holding an image of your dad firing at the same time as the synapse holding a sexual memory firing at the same time as one holding the memory of the 70's baby in the lane story etc etc. These random synapic bursts reaching your higher brain functions at the same time which take these impulses and try and weave them into a narrative. etc etc

Did you ever watch someone sleep? Random leg twitches etc Same thing, Random Synapse twitches basically.

Thats my theory anyway. Dream interpretation is just new age bollix IMHO

Like others here, more often than not I can dissect a dream and see where each part came from, ie this bit from the newspaper article I read 2 days ago, that bit from something my brother said earlier in the day, another bit from something I saw in work that day etc etc

I remember dreaming about my father shagging me......and I'm a bloke and I'm not Gay!! Didn't upset or worry me in the slightest. Means nothing.
