Wood pellet storage

The main problem with wood pellets seems to be storage. Only bulk delivery is viable and the minimum delivery is three tonnes. I've looked at a purpose-built insulated storage container with a 3.5 tonne capacity but it is 3.3m long x 1.2m wide x 2.5m high which would be a bit bulky and unsightly in a back garden.

I've heard it mentioned that a subterranean container can be installed which on the face of it seems like a good idea.

Has anyone any thoughts/experience of the storage issue?
