Ah, I'm just going by the play.com release date, as that's where I've had it ordered. ;)

I was up waiting for the post man this morning, in the hope that he had my copy of The Host. All I got was a damn bill from Eircom, guess I'll have to wait.

:) Picked up both The Host and Pan's Labyrinth this evening. Probably the two best films I've seen in the past 6 months. Now I just can't decide which I want to watch first!

I watched The Host last night and enjoyed it immensly. Easily one of the best films I have seen in a long time. The perfect balance of thrills, comedy and a great story.

Going to bring The Host over to my friend's place for a film night tomorrow... definitely the most accessible horror film that I've seen in years.
And a far more accessible Korean film than my other 2 favourites (Oldboy and a bittersweet life)

I love both Oldboy and A Bittersweet Life, yet no one I've ever watched it with has enjoyed either. Yet I gave The Host to a few friends to watch earlier today and they all loved it.

I think it's because the story is so simple, and the themes are universal. A family puting aside their differences to save one of their own.

Hopefully, the inevitable Hollywood remake will retain some of the wit and fun, and not turn it into a Godzilla redux.

Bah, my copy hasn't arrived yet. Very late arriving, it seems. Normally it would be 3-4 days from play.com but it's over a week now. :(

Saw this a while back and thought it was pretty poor. If this was a Hollywood film I'd have said it was a pile of crap... I just can't bring myself to say it here though.

I thought it was funny.... in places.
It was good.... up to a point. It just didnt strike me as excellent. A sort of an also ran in the world of modern horror. But it held my attention, got a few laughs, was intrigueing in places, pretty good Korean cinema.

Said this before, but think this film is just a little overhyped. Granted, its many times preferrable to your usual generic BFM (Big F!!!!!! Monster!) film. But I think all the 5 out of 5 reviews Ive read in papers lately should lay off the old hyperbole.

Still, a damn entertaining watch if you be in the right mood.

rented it out last night and thought it was thoroughly entertaining. really enjoyed every moment of it. the box says it's "jaws via jurrasic park", and i would somewhat agree with that tbh.

though did it strike anyone else as strange that a film with a fair amount of blood, violence and cursing is 12s?
