Last night I was being extremely geeky and reading the Martin Evening CS2 book, when I read something that made me go "Duh!!!"

It may or may not be news to others here.

Instead of duplicating the background layer in order to change the blending mode and lighten/darken/increase contrast etc etc, you get the same effect by creating a new adjustment (curves/levels) layer, leaving is neutral, and changing the blending mode on that - then you don't have the increase in file size that you get with a duplicate background.

    Yay!

Can I get this book in easons?

I bought a CS2 book and to put it bluntly, it's crap. Should have looked at it in more detail before purchase.
