Now recruiting for new Civ IV PBEM game

Over at darkkeep, we're looking for some fresh faces for a brand spanking new PBEM game, free from the mistakes of the past. Game options as yet unfixed.

The last one was great fun, and lifelong animosities have been formed.

Open to all modem speeds, you just need 5 minutes every day or two. Oh, and a copy of Civ IV.

I'm over there, but you won't recognise me, as I'm wearing a cunning disguise.

Ah Dirk, didn't know you were interested. Besides, we already have a life long animosity, and frankly, I've enemies over at Darkkeep without importing them!

But seriously... Steve's in alright, and some fresh blood is always welcome!

This is the 5th game to be spawned, so there will certainly be more. If another is kicking off, I'll try and remember to send you a PM. As they say, watch this space!

EDIT: Also, in such a long running game, its likely somebody won't last the course, and be forced to drop out, maybe the opportunity would arise to take on somebody else's civ

I hate to miss games, but I don't like to start too many at once! I'm sure though there's some gluttons amongst the 8 players in the latest games who wouldn't mind a side project. You could try canvassing on Darkkeep.

You have two players already, four is probably optimal. I'd say you'd easy find them.

Another game of Civ4, that might just cover my return trip from work on the train since the new one looks like its a turn every two/three days.

Put me down if you're still on for starting one.

I find starting from scratch incredibly painful in a PBEM. Is there any good scenarios for multiplayer games out there?

Is this a good point to mention that despite owning civ4 for about 6 months now I haven't actually managed to find the time to play a game?

How hard could it be?........

The scenarios tend to be a bit unbalanced in my experience, but by starting in the medieval era, you skip a lot of the initial pain. You have about 20 techs and 2 settlers, things get interesting much quicker.

Yes, 8 players is a bit of a marathon, people still playing their 2nd turn after 4 days. I may have to start another to keep my mind off work.

Update: Well we've filled the game But are holding two of the games slots open to anyone new who wants to give it a go. The initial turn will be going out tomorrow morning.

Obviously you don't want anyone to have a clear advantage but that doesn't mean you need a completely level playing field to have a fair(ish) game. The scenario I had in mind would try to force people to make beneficial alliances.
