Installing software on a Mac

    Hey guys,

I'm trying to install software on my Mac but when I click on the .exe file it asks me to choose an application to install the software.

Is the software PC only? I'm trying to install everything from Firefox to Flash MX to Dreamweaver.

The .exe files on the disc should just install the software?

    Suggestions appreciated.

    Cheers.

As far as I know anything with a .exe extension is a PC only executable. Mac software/installers will have no extension, or extensions including .app, .dmg or .pkg. I know Firefox's Mac installer is a DMG, try downloading the Mac version. Hope this helps.

(Someone please correct me if I'm wrong)

    Nope. You're right.

    .exe is a windows extension.

Most intallers on the mac use the .dmg extension... which basically mounts the installer as a drive on your desketop.

I don't know about your copy of Dreamweaver. But the Dreamweaver studio that I have has both the mac and windows installers on the CD.

Ah ok.. see the version of Macromedia studio doesn't have any.dmg files only .exe

I assumed it would install on both Windows and Mac.
