What exactly do you class as a "good capacity"? Do you want to carry your entire collection around with you? - or do you mind changing the contents of the player every so often? Do you want video capability? TV playback? Microphone? Line-in recorder? Radio?

    Give us more info!

Ditto what bard said... we needs more infos...

How big is your current collection for instance, what format is your music encoded in?

A least the list is narrowed down to UMS or MTP compliant devices only, we can narrow down the list even further if you happen to be running a mac and not PC :D

Any preference on flash or HDD?

Do you prefer touch or tactile controls?

What battery life would satisfy your needs?

    etc..... etc....

    Right right,

    I suppose a minimum of 30 gigs

Video isn't important, but would be nice

Current collection is bordering on 25 gigs

Battery, well as long as can be..

    I'm a PC man

Music is mainly mp3, some ogg and other formats but the huge chunk is mp3

Controls - I dunno, as long as its not a stupid interface.

    Radio - not important

    Ammmm, anything else?

Ok First suggestion: Creative Zen Vision:M
    14-16hr battery
    plays mp3 (not vorbis though)
Great aftersales support should you ever need it
    typically fantastic Creative SQ
Does play video and has a very vibrant screen
    very intuitive UI
Works with WMP and Media Monkey
    Has FM Radio

    next: Cowon X5
An aging DAP, one of the first to sport video playback, albeit rather badly (15fps 1.8inch screen :( )

    Strong metal casing
Cowon have built a reputation on having "the best" sound quality in the DAP market
Supports loads of formats, mp3 and ogg vorbis included
Simple drag and drop method of music transfer
UI isn't so great unless you like sorting you music via File / Folder
Battery is 14hrs for the standard X5 or a mamoth 35 hours for the X5L
    Has FM Radio

    Finally: Apple iPod
The dominator of DAPland, and not a bad dap in itself. The current gen ipod is a decent machine but overall its average.

    12-14hr battery
plays mp3 and aac aswell as apple lossless
Does not support the most common video formats, ie xvid.
    Scratches OH so easily
    Impossibly thin
Very nice tweak in the UI where you can group together compilations, a feature most other DAP's do not have.
    No FM radio

Recently upgraded from a Zen Microphoto to a Vision:M 30 GB. Can't recommend them enough.

Think they're going fo a good price on Komplett at the moment.
