    Hi
myself and my husband are taking our two kids to tramore co waterford in july for a week's holiday.
i was wondering if anybody has been there before and if they know of things to do with young children, they will be almost 4 and 5 when we go.

had heard it was a great seaside resort with beautiful beaches, but would like to know more.

    thanks
    mir

Quick summary off the top of my head -
-- Amusement park open every day, very busy on weekends small enough but adequate for kids
-- Amusement arcades, several varying in size
-- The beach isnt bad, can get very crowded, popular among the surfers (I prefer Bonmahon myself :) )
-- I'm not too well up on the holiday homes end of things there as I only live a 15 min drive away
    -- Lots of walks nearby
-- Access to Waterford City very easy, regular busses (about 10 - 15 mins by car)
-- Nice selection of bars for yourself and your husband
-- Surf school right on the beach, but your two may be a wee bit young for that yet.

Its all very vague but I'm sure a few of the heads on the Waterford board can help if you require more specifics.

Ah I missed my calling as a travel agent ;)

Heres a couple of websites may provide more info

For bad days theres an indoor kids activity centre called Runamuc, which is really popular with kids.
Theres also Splashworld, which has a big swimming pool with water slides, wave etc for kids.

Waterford City is really close too, which has loads to do.

Tramore has a long, sandy beach and fairground entertainments as mentioned. There is also a small children's park near the Catholic church at the top of the town. Going west out of the town is Newtown with woodland walks and swimming areas (swimming not suitable for small children, but its a nice area). Along the coast are numerous other smaller beaches, some of which are a bit hard to find, but the main ones are Kilfarassey, Annestown, Boatstrand and Bunmahon. Annestown is the nicest in my opinion. If you go a bit further there is Stradbally which is a lovely beach but parking can be a bit chaotic in the summer. Boatstrand parking is a bit iffy too.

Not far out of Tramore on the same road is the Copper Coast mini farm aimed at children, throughout the summer there is a summer camp at Dunhill but it is very popular for up to 9s approximately so I don't know if you could go without booking.

East of the town is Dunmore East and further on across the little ferry at Passage East you can get to more nice beaches especially Duncannon - look out for their festival which has sand sculpting etc, I don't think the date has been fixed yet.

If you tire of Tramore which can get very crowded, take the Passage East ferry across to Ballyhack. It only takes a few minutes and there's nice things to see in Wexford. The Hook Head lighthouse is open to the public and is well worth visiting. Duncannon has nice beaches and isn't as touristy as Tramore. Further back up the road, Tintern Abbey is not only a ruined Cistercian abbey but a lovely park.
