Is it easier to get tickets for popular concerts online or by phone??

Both are a major pain in the buttocks tbh. Personally i'd go with online if you have an account setup. It can be a bit slow tho.

I find buying tickets off Ticketmaster online is easy enough, but you pay more a bit more than you'd pay at an outlet. I only really use them if I know a gig is going to sell out by the time I step out the front door.

Outlets have queue's and if its selling out in minutes that can be a problem.

Whichever you choose, if its gonna sell out fast, it can be a lottery trying to get a ticket.

Just be online and keep trying every 10 seconds from the 5 minutes before the time the tickets go on sale.

Why not just try every 10 seconds from when the tickets actually go on sale. Trying before they go on sale is pointless and a tad stupid.

Clocks could possibly be a minute or two out of sync with each other, so it's a precautionary measure. These are situations where if you're not miliseconds ahead of someone else you may not get a ticket.

Id say buying online is probably the best option.

Just be sure you have an account set up and you know your password before the tickets go on sale. I got stung once coz i couldnt rem my password. I had to set up the account again and by the time that was done the f*cking tickets were sold out.

Funnily enough the ticketmaster server and the speaking clock run to the same time.

"At the signal it will be"..... Purchase Tickets.

Buy your tickets online, I've never missed out on tickets when booking online no matter how fast they sell out

Cos i live in a remote-ish neck of the woods where there's never too much demand at my local TM outlet, i prefer the wait outside for 10 minutes and i'ev yet to be disappointed.

As a matter of interest, though, how does the allocation to outlets work, does anybody know. For instance, if an act are to play in the olympia and there's 2000 tickets, does my local outlet have an allocation that they have access to, or are they drawing from the *exact* same pool that all the other posters are drawing from - the general 'for sale' bundle? I mean - obviously if that's the case, then one might as well just have a broadband connection and an TM account created?

    anybody know?

If they are on the ticketmaster network with their own printing machine etc then they are pulling from the same pool. Smaller outlets like road records and sound cellar get an allocation of preprinted tickets. Id imagine this is worked out from volume of sales and the like.
