I hope someone can help me.. I just baught a new laptop. the guy in the shop said I should have no problem getting my broadband connection on it. I have broadband with Imagine. not wireless.. the laptop has a switch to pick up wireless but I cant seem to get online. do I have to get buy something else? will I be able to go online on my pc and laptop at the same time.
another problem. How do I get rid of unwanted websites popping open (porn) I dont think anyone in the house had been on them.. but even if they had, surely there is some way of stopping it opening by itself.. my granddaughter is sometimes on the internet (barbie) she is only 6 so I really dont want her subjected to unwanted porn.
    thanks a million

Do you have a wireless router with Imagine?

No, it doesn't look like it.

What you need is a wireless router. So it will be DSL<--->wireless router<--->laptop. Other than that, you will need an ethernet cable to plug the laptop into the DSL modem.

As for the porn stuff, have a look over on the computer forum. What you need is AVG Anti virus, Spybot Search & Destroy and Ad-Aware. All free, just do a search and make sure they are actually what you are downloading (some cheeky bas****s make their search results look like the above, but they are not, they are in fact malicious software).

Well I'm guessing you have broadband via the phone line? If so you've probably got a modem(an adsl modem, not the old dialup kind) which is probably connected to your PC via network cable or usb. to test it on your laptop you can take the network cable/usb out of the PC and plug it into your laptop. to use them both at once you will need a router or if you want a wireless connection a wireless router.

The porn poping up I would seriously suspect that there is a lot of nasty shit running on your PC and I would install all the software mentioned in the previous post asap.
