Hey guys, can you tell me what the details are and who you got the insurance from? The paintball association are also looking into personal insurance for members.

    Cheers

    Richie,
Dunno 'bout airsoft, but half the target shooters use Countryside Alliance Ireland (€40 for adults, €15 for under-17s, a few million in cover).

Hmmm, I am a little confused and annoyed.
I rang up Countryside Alliance Ireland today and I was talking to a chap called Martain I think. I asked him do they provide insurance for paintballers. I was told no. They specifically do not provide coverage for paintball because you are shooting at people.
Then I asked him about airsoft. He said that airsoft was included in their range of covered sports, because it is a 'target shooting' sport and you do not shoot other people.
Now i dont know much, but if this is the case, then somebody told a fibb to mister insurance broker inorder to get covered. And if so, your insurance could be void if you had to claim for an injury you sustained while running from sombody who shooting 'at' you.

Was it anybody from boards.ie here who contacted Countryside Alliance and asked them to insure airsofters? And if so, what did you tell them?

Hmm interesting I'm sure its just a minor misunderstanding I'll speak to the guy who was dealing with the insurance company on our behalf and I'll get back to you

    That's quite unsettling.
I hope there hasn't been a huge mixup here.

I fear this is the case. I recko the broker hard 'air' and then though air rifle.
N.O.I.P - any word on what was said to the broker? If this is indeed a misunderstanding, then perhaps both paintballers and airsofters can work together in getting some sort of 'non leathal air weapons' insurance thing going with this crowd.

hello there lads. have you sorted out your perhaps void insurance deal?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,121 ✭✭✭N.O.I.P.

For a start the deal isn't VOID and it never was and I don't appreciate you implying this, Unfortunetly even though all aspects of Airsoft were explainded to them and they had originally planned to insure skirmishes the CA has now decided that they will only insure us for target shooting so I am currently working with another group and will let you know once they get back to me.

Did a google search for "airsoft insurance uk ireland".

    Came back with this:

    https://www.sportscoverdirect.com/action/insurance.py/quote_form?product=2&sportsgroup=2&sportid=4

Seems to be for holiday insurance that covers airsoft, but it seems that the insurance company used (Lloyds) will actually provide insurance for airsoft.

And these guys do paintball insurance:
    http://www.liabilityinsurancequotes.co.uk/

They might be willing to offer insurance for airsoft as well.

I don't know much about insurance or what exactly our requirements would be, so I'll leave contacting them up to someone more capable in that area.

Oh, and funnily enough, when I did a Yahoo UK search for "airsoft insurance quote", the first result was for Golf Insurance! I think we may have a new sport there. The golf ball lands 10 feet from the hole and you have to shoot it the rest of the way in using an airsoft. :D

N.O.I.P, I said a perhaps void insurance deal. I was asking the question because there was no response for so long.

Anyway, I am sorry to hear that that deal fell through. We are on the same team here, paintballers have the same trouble trying to get insurance. This is perhaps one of the areas where the IAA and IPPA can get together and sort out a deal with some insurance company.

From what I have found out so far, in the UK, pistol/ rifel shooters insurance is a lot cheaper that paintballer insurance cause of the more chance of a paintballer getting injured.

I will let you know of any developments that we have.
