Set vs Flush Draw Jamahahaha

Jackpot Sunday Night: I am on the big blind and have been playing a little tight. Stacks are about €500 on average, Villian has €350 and i have €950. The action is raised to 3,6 and then 15 blind. I call in the SB with Jc Jd 9h 8h. Villian is very tight and on the button.

    5 Players see a flop of Jh 7d 4h (€75)

I bet €75, the BB calls as does seat 4. Seat 5 folds. Villian then says he is either folding or raising and duly goes all in. I reraise all in trying to isolate and the other two fold.

Turn and River were both hearts and villian showed AhKhXhXd after a minute or so delay.

    Fair enough.

Same situation last night on PP where i had a straight draw and top set vs a flush draw and lost a big pot again. Am i making the pots too big by betting out? Should i be check raising the flop? Is there another way to play top set? Can anyone with access to Poker stove let me know the % on this one.

When you flop top set, you generally want to play big pots.

Results based thinking makes baby Jesus cry.

The worst case scenario is a coinflip. The very worst would be you have JJxx no hearts. He has 5h6h77 on a Jh 7h 4 flop. In that sitaution you're a 52-48 dog. CR can be good, but you need to be sure someone will bet. On a draw heavy flop like that one, you don't really want to risk the chance of giving a free card.

With an inside straight draw to the nuts and 2 hearts in your hand, either as outs or blockers, this is a monster flop and you should be happy to get it in. I have suffered with the best of them at the hands of the Omaha outdraw hands, so I understand your pain as well.

Im not too concerned about being outdrawn, i was concerned that i was playing the set all wrong and dont want to continue doing it that way if it is way wrong

You played it perfectly and got very unlucky after flopping a monster.
