    Hello all,

Have noticed a squealing noise from my car lately,think(99%) it's the belt that drives the radiator cooling fan etc. Is this the "timing" belt? And is it a serious issue, as in get it sorted asap?

    Thanks,
    Bill...

Do you generally only notice it when it's wet/raining outside? Sounds like it's the fan belt tbh, you'd need to get it done over the next couple of weeks once it's not squealing the whole time

Be careful it's not the fuel pump though. Take it to the garage and get it diagnosed, you can book when it suits you.

Yeah its definately worse when it is wet or you drive through a puddle..Just not sure if its the timing belt or a seperate fan belt though....

It's the Fan Belt so, the fan belt drives the alternator. The Timing belt controls the engines valves. They're 2 totally different belts. :)

It is most likely your fan belt tensioner getting weak. Belt and tensioner to be changed together. This should be done as soon as possible as there is the possibility of the belt slipping off and getting caught in the timing belt pully and doing serious damage.
