I didn't see the Paddy Cole programes but there was another program from the RTE archive on last night called "I Live Here". Filmed in 1989 It was about a teacher in Connemara. He was driving a Datsun Violet and there were a couple of street scenes from Galway city in the programme. Lots of Kadett Mk2s to be seen! Also Renault 9, Ascona, Datsun Laurel taxi, Carinas.

Some of the 'Hands' series have a lot of 70's/ early 80s cars in background shots and the Green Linnet series with Barney McKenna and Tony McMahon touring Europe in a 2cv van in the late 70s was pure gold. and with a 18 month old who likes to get up at 5.30am on a Saturday, I've discovered RTE are repeating the first series of Bergerac from 1981. Some great stuff in the background, for 10 points what did Bergerac drive in the first episode before unearthing the Triumph Roadster?

Missed tonights ones - balls! What did you see, cxcully?

If someone had told me a few years ago that I'd be looking at RTE archive programmes just so I could spot ould 70s and 80s bangers, I'd never have believed it!

The members of the autosh1te forum love this sort of nostalgia

Unfortunately went to the local after 5 mins to watch my beloved Spurs in the UEFA Cup....I saw some Renault 9/12s,Ford Escorts Mark 1s (?),a first generation Starlet....most cars looking knackered and dented-a long cry from pristine 07 Reg's.
