Worried about first ever GAS purchase

    Hi im mark. *Hi mark*

I have a soft spot for hollowbodies, and i spotted this a few months back and instantly thought it looked really nice and that id love to have it. I dont cut corners with instruments, unless its an experiment... I've gone against the grain :(. Last week I had a couple of quid, and it was money that i knew id spend on useless crap, so i wanted to spend it on something usefull before I wasted it. I trolled through some bookmarks and came across the bass again. Everything went blank, and the next day I noticed in my email account that I had bought it.

Its cheap, I know... but now my shallowness has passed im worried about the tone, feel... everything :/ Its my first thomann purchase, and I did it via bank transfare on monday. The bank said it should take 2/3 days to complete. I've checked my thomann account and it says its still waiting payment.

Can someone offer any reassurance with regards to my purchase? Are harley benton any use? How are thomann with deliveries?

If I want it I should get it right?

Doesn't look too bad actually. Looks like a standard Musicman sized pickup, so it should be easy to replace with no modification. Plus, you know a bit about building and setups so it should be no bother to make it into a player. Worth the gamble, I reckon :)

I've wired money to Germany before through AIB online banking and it took exactly five minutes. The girl from G66 couldn't believe how fast the payment was received. The banks have the technology to do it quickly, they just want to make you pay through the noise for it. I was charged 12.70eur for this service. I didn't mind though cause i wanted to get the amp shipped that day plus i was pretty impressed with the speed.

    What does GAS mean?

    From Wikipedia:

Gear Acquisition Syndrome, used by musicians (e.g. guitarists, keyboard/synthesizer players, drummers etc.) and amateur photographers amongst themselves to express their (somewhat compulsive) need for buying more gear

Hi Mark. Harley Benton is the name that Thomann put on a range of stuff from China. I had this delivered during the week...http://www.thomann.de/ie/harley_benton_hbcg45.htm...a 39 euro, steel string acoustic guitar. I was worried about it too, but it's of a much higher quality than I expected. Plus, with the bass, you can easily upgrade the pick-ups, hardware, etc when you feel you need to.

You're right, by the way; it's a lovely looking guitar. Seems to be based on the Epiphone Jack Casady signature model.

Anyway, good luck with it - I'm sure you'll be delighted.
