ITunes Ireland and Movies

I've got an IPod Video and am looking to putting videos on it. I've searched through the thread and haven't been able to find answers to the following:

When I log into ITunes it says I can only purchase from Irish store and switches me to it but the movies and tv shows sections are missing. Shouldn't we be able to buy movies here?

I've seen reference to software for converting video files on PCs into IPod compatible files. I have DVDs I'd like to put on but when I put them into the drive it doesn't default to ITunes as it does when I put a CD in. I know it's because they're protected but is there any way around it.

    Thanks
    D

In answer to your first question - No, movies are not (yet) available to Irish customers on iTunes.

Regarding your query about DVDs - DVDs don't play in iTunes and iTunes doesn't convert DVD's to iPod video files. Read the FAQ thread (sticky at the top of the forum) - there's programs mentioned in it that convert DVDs to iPod video files.
