infinite boot loop...will knoppix work to recover my data before i reinstall?

Hi, My laptop has gone into an infinite boot loop, constantly rebooting and will not load windows xp, if I download knoppix live CD will this work to recover my data to an external hard drive?

Should do

If it's an NTFS formatted hard-drive ( the one in the pc) , you wont be able to write to it, but you'll be able to read from it. You will have to format the external Hard drive to FAT32 if you want to be able to write to it from knoppix and subsequently read from it in wondows.
