Not something that gets highlighted too often but Sky have a new Baby/Toddler/Little folk channel on 626 and it seems to be popular with my crew anyhow so no harm in letting folk know.

Baby TV is an innovative, first of its kind, commercial free television channel that was designed in conjunction with child psychologists and infant development experts.

Actually it is NOT free. It is in Kids Mix.

TV is bad for small children hindering their development. Especialy if they watch it on their own without parental interaction. Many studies have shown this.

My advice is don't bother subscribing to Kids mix at all. BBC has 2 dedicated childrens channels. ITV one, and regular UTV, BBC1 are free on satellite, as is Pop, Tiny Pop. RTE and TG4 free via aerial.

    Waste of money.

Get small kids Duplo and bigger small kids Lego. Also Pasticine, home made play dough, paper, paint, crayons. etc.. TV isn't good for them.

Here here Watty, really kills me seeing Kids constantly playing playstation or watching mindless television and not getting exercise.

I think I have seen this channel FTA on Astra1 or Hotbird, I can't see it listed on lyngsat but I might have missed it.
I also feel uneasy with the amount of TV kids watch, but much of my work is fitting ext. points to kids bedrooms. If they have sky around the house the kids can watch whatever the parents are watching at night in their own bedrooms. I have tried explaining this to parents but they usually want the kids to have sky in their rooms. I dispair of some people but I have to give them what they want. No wonder kids are violent and prematurally sexually active. (end of OT rant).

jaysys, talk about bravery in anonominity. The chap was only recommending a new station. Trying to help people.
You dont have to be a rocket scientist to know that too much tv is bad for kids. Although youve lost the plot if you think that its all bad. some if it is educational. Bring your kids to the zoo and see what they think of the penguins in their natural habitat
