Hi all. I have entered The Great North Run in Newcastle England 30th sept 07and was wonderin is anyone else here doing it, or has done it.

I am also going to do the South Armagh 1/2 Marathon which is where i am from.

I have run the Dublin marathon 3 times over 8 yrs and between each of these and Sth Armagh 1/2 i do very little running.

Are there any other runs coming up this year that anyone could recommend which would keep me going all year in and around 1/2 marathon distance. I would love to do the bupa run but i have a wedding the day before.

    Thanks.

ok that will prob be too close to the 10 mile race in the park, there is a 5 miler the month before which would be something I suppose.

also there is the sportsworld 5 mile in may and I think a 10k in belfast around the same time.

also there is a 10 miler in dublin near the start of sep usually, a point to point run by dublin bus

have a look on the irish runner and bhaa sites for a full race listing..

no worries, in lieu of anyone who has actually done it, I know 2 or 3 people who have. second hand reports are that it is a good laugh and very social. not a good one to go for a time at though, they said it is totally packed all the way start to finish and you can never really get going there are so many people on the course..

so just enjoy the day out.

head over to runnersworld.co.uk and look at their events forum, there will be loads of people on there with good info..

Well, there's also the Connemarathon every year, around the start of April. Entry is closed for 2007, but they're now taking entries for 2008 (6th April). This includes an Ultra, a full marathon and a half marathon.
    See: http://www.connemarathon.com
This is the one I'm training for at the moment..

Then there's the Achill Marathon on July 7th, which is is in its second year, and which is still open for entries. They run a full and half marathon.
    See: http://www.achillmarathon.com/

Then of course there's the Mooathon in Donegal, on the 30th September. Make sure you read the terms and conditions!
    See: http://www.mooathon.com/

    Belfast Marathon - May 7th (http://www.belfastcitymarathon.com)

    Flora Mini-marathon (if you're female, or don't mind a bit of cross dressing) - 4th June (http://www.womensminimarathon.ie) - 10K.

Cork City Marathon - Same day as the Women's mini marathon - 4th June (www.corkcitymarathon.ie)

    Clare 10K - June 23rd

Longford Full and Half Marathon - 26th August (http://www.longfordmarathon.com)

Cork Half Marathon in Blarney - 9th September (http://www.stfinbarrsac.com)

Dublin Half-marathon - 22nd September, Phoenix park (no web address)

and of course, the Dublin City Marathon, on the 29th October, see: http://www.adidasdublinmarathon.com

Phew... I'm tired just looking at that lot!
