I was looking at the Paddy Power odds for the number of entrants in the 2007 WSOP. The odds are very high for a large number of entrants.

They are oviously expecting the number of entrants to be seriously affected by the current state of affairs in the US.

How much to you guys think the laws in the US will affect the turnout especially considering that the WSOP is no longer accepting third party registrations(satalite winners etc).

I would expect it to be possibly halved over last years figures. The one thing I'm counting on is a very big increase in the numbers of fish playing the live sats over there.

Best of luck in the live sats so :)

I reckon it will be a long time before anyone wins 12mil again.

Here are the odds from PP.
    Under 2000 20 - 1
    2000-2499 25 - 1
    2500-2999 14 - 1
    3000-3499 5 - 1
    3500-3999 3 - 1
    4000-4499 7 - 2
    4500-4999 6 - 1
    5000-5499 8 - 1

    5500-5999 14 - 1
    6000-6499 18 - 1
    6500-6999 22 - 1
    7000-7499 28 - 1
    7500-7999 33 - 1
    8000-8499 50 - 1
    8500-8999 66 - 1
    9000+ 8 - 1

The short odds are in the 3000-5500 range. They are obviously expecting online quailifers to be massively reduced. but it looks like an all or nothing thing, if the sats take off, then it wil break 9000. small or huge nothing in between.

What is the current stance on quailifying on poker sites. Sites can give away any prizes then want really. So all that will happen is winners will recieve flights and accomadation + $10,000 to buy themselves into the game, i dont think hat many would take the cash instead of playing,,,,,,,,,,,,would you?????

    I wouldn't...

What's the story with live sats over there? I'll be in America for the summer...Are they limited to just Vegas, what is the standard and structure like generally and how many will be on and for how long, roughly, does anyone know?

from what ive read the sites (stars) will be paying you in direct you wont have the option of taking the 10k chip or whatever, I think we may get large numbers again , remember last year they wer running alternates on the last couple of first days.

think the number will be quite high with hopefully loads of internet qualifiers with no live experience

Well considering stars will be giving away 5,000 tickets like they always do, it should be the same as last year.

Stars will give away at least as many this year as last. I don't think the figure was 5,000, thought it was closer to 2,500. There will be less sites giving away seats I'd imagine, due to the legislation in the US, and also due to there probably there being less overall sites or networks as there seems to be a good bit of consolidation in the market.

I would not expect there to be considerably less than last year unless the Stars sats turn out to be "we'll pay you, you pay them" which there is no confirmation of at this point. Currently it is as you were.

I just think a few more will try the live route because it might be the only option for them.

I think their odds are off by some distance. In my opinion they are underestimating it by about 2k. Of course it's still a total sucker bet if you choose one of those categories, choose all available over 6k or find somewhere else to pick a straight forward over under.

Works out around even money at over 5000, over 2/1 on over 6000 runners. Im tempted.
