    Hiya

A decent bloke has lent me his Satellite Signal Measurer thingy, after me whinging about how some of my channels get a bit blocky or disappear.

Here are the readings... does anyone know why the last one is a bit down? Is that the cause of the problems..?

Is it because it's "High" frequency and so gets battered a bit more coming down the cable?

Should I expect better readings..? :o

According to the Digibox, the Strength is usually 40 to 50% and the Quality 30 to 40%

    Thanks folks

    How long is your cable?
Is there any kink or damage?
It is real Satellite TV cable?
    Is the dish properly aligned?
Are those readings at the dish/LNB or at the Satellite box end?

Less than 60% quality indicates a problem. Level is not so important.

The Digibox readings vary from box to box, they are not especially accurate nor absolute, especially on Level.

    Hi Watty

    > "How long is your cable?"
The cable length would be from the dish, which is beside an upstairs window, to the Sky decoder, which is in the sitting room directly below - plus an extra 2 metres or so of cable from the wall to the back of the decoder.

    > "Is there any kink or damage?"
No, it looks perfect from what I can see...

    > "It is real Satellite TV cable?"
Gosh I hope so! I didn't install it myself, it was one of the Sierra crew.

    > "Is the dish properly aligned?"
hmmm That's a tough one. I don't know. I was hoping the meter could tell me. I figure seeing as the strength was high across the results it is... am I wrong?

    > "Are those readings at the dish/LNB or at the Satellite box end?"
Oh, at the box end! I unplugged it, unscrewed the cable at the back and screwed it into the meter.

    > "Less than 60% quality indicates a problem. Level is not so important."
Gosh, so you mean the dish might not be aligned properly? Even though three out of four of the readings are above 60%?

    > "The Digibox readings vary from box to box, they are not especially accurate nor absolute, especially on Level."
Okay, thanks for that. For example, RTE 1 and 2 are perfect while Channel 6 skips intermittently.
