    Hi

My girlfriend bought an Amelio exactly a year ago and barely uses it but a few months ago it just started sounding like a lawnmore and then shuting itself off when heated up so she brought it back and was told the fan was dodgy so they put a new one in.
however recently it started doing the same thing. Just wondering has anyone had any similar experiences with them because i know my friend has also recently had the same problem.
when she brought it in the second time to get fixed he told her that there is nothing wrong with it, even though it was the same problem as before so she took it home and it started happening again. he has now taken it off her to wipe the whole computer because he said it must be a virus, again can this possibly be true.

    Thanks

Where did she buy it? Formatting the machine when there is nothing wrong in that area of the machine still seems like the common thing for "technicians". I would be having words with them.

she bought it off a local retailer. shes tried asking for a new laptop or her money back in the area of the product not fit for its purpose since it was the second time she had to bring it back, not sure if she can get away with that though.

That is nothing short of insane.

The old "I don't have a clue what's wrong, so I'll say it's a virus". Last time I checked, viruses didn't infect fans.

Sounds to me like they don't have a clue. Don't allow them to wipe it, tell them to run a virus scan, and let you see the virus being detected.
