Wow, that's a nice selection, I have to say. Nice to see the white one and the Jeff Loomis signiature, pity about the EMGs though.

Loomis' sig model is unforgivably ugly

You know, I'm not sure if I love it or not... It's different from most 7s anyway.

It's just wrong. Great idea, miserable execution.

How do you think it could've been executed better?

The maple fretboard is just a dreadful colour, it doesn't work with that body colour and the black log on the heeadstock looks cheap and nasty. The jet black floyd and the cosmo black/chrome tuners look mismatched. The body itself doesn't look as sleek as the othe C series. In fact the C7FR is what Loomis's guitar should have been. Remember the one he played in Whelans? That!

The C7 or hellraiser for me tbh. Or Loomis' Whelans guitar.

Ah, excellent, was just talking to a mate the other day about how they needed a C-7FR, he may now acquire one. :)

And yeah, the Loomis sig blows goats.

    Elite or C7 for me

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,658 ✭✭✭Patricide

anyone know what pu's are in the 007 elite, if they were anything half decent i deffinatly wouldnt mind going for it, i always liked that body shape.

Also referring to the loomis, if it wasnt for the floyd rose id be on that like a dog in heat. id change the contol knobs though so there both black.

Probably Duncan Designed which are decent enough.

The Blackjack is still the most appealing Schecter seven string to me. A floyd rose model without EMGs would be interesting too.

duncan designed are not decent by any means, however the body and the neck are mahogany and its a set neck so its tempting me to buy one and put a dimarzio or 2 in there hmmmmmm

Duncan Designed are decent as far as stock pick ups go.

not at that price when you consider what ltd have to offer.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,638 ✭✭✭bombidol

yeah but Schecter are infinity better than LTD

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

How do you figure that one?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,658 ✭✭✭Patricide

yea im curious to know that too..

Cause I've used both on multiple occasions but I've owned 2 Schecters, with a 3rd on the way. Sure its personally preference for most but I've found Schecter to be vastly superior on most fronts to nearly every other guitar i've played.

You know, I can't really imagine Schecter being all that much better than LTD. They're both Korean made, and probably made in the very same factory. I can't quite remember where I've read it, but supposedly there's only a handfull of Korean guitar factories, and many brands are all being made by the same people. Maybe someone else can confirm or deny that?

Anyway, I haven't had the pleasure of playing a Schecter yet, so I'm just speculating.

Schecter's are made by Cort in Korea. I don't know about the LTDs but nearly every big-name Korean guitar is made either by Samick or Cort.

    Ah, thanks very much. ;)

Cort are the ones who do the Korean Ibanezes, righT?

Yeah, they make the sub-prestige Ibanez's, Schecters, G&Ls, BC Rich, Fender (lite ash etc), plus dozens more.

So do you think there's much quality difference between any of those guitars made by Cort, or is it all pretty much the same?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,706 ✭✭✭Voodu Child

Well, Cort has factories in Korea, Indonesia, China so theres a difference across the board.

Just looking at the guitars made in Korea, i wouldnt say there is a big difference in 'quality' - im talking things like the quality of the soldering, paintjob, fretting etc. For the most part, these are done by the same people with the same level of training, using the same tools.

Most differences would just be the specs, pickups, hardware, vol & tone pots etc.

All these are decided by the 'brand' themselves (ie schecter) to meet a certain price point.

Yeah, of course, same as ESP being made in Japan, and prestige Ibanez etc.

We're talking the budget models - im not familiar enough with schecter to know where production stops in Korea and starts in US, but you could probably guess from the price.

Edit - according to Schecter, all the Diamond series guitars/basses are made in Korea, and the Custom shop models are made in the US. The schecter guys will know which models that refers to.

For budget stuff theres probably not a huge difference between most brands I reckon
