Complete newbie, hope this is the right place.

Would like to know what sort of equipment and software would be needed to produce a 'good' quality video broadcast. Something like the vireo diary you might see on some of the reality TV shows - i.e. person speaks freely to camera.

Am looking at needing 3-4 of the above set up (to gain the experience of 3-4 people), and money is tight!

If you have a tape videocamera, all you need is a TV card in your PC. all the cables and software to record will come with the card. I have an averTV card it allows me to record from Cable TV RF antenna, s-video and FM Radio as well as digital TV, but havent figured out the digital TV bit yet.

You want somewhere to host your videos, youtube.

Thanks Billy. I do have an old video camera, but am really looking for a 'point and shoot' solution times 4. The people recording to video will be doing so in their own homes or offices - i.e. alone, without any tech or director help - so it really needs to be simple.

One point to note - the recorder does not really need to be portable - would there be a good webcam?

Quality needed would be 'excellent YouTube' (but no need to be anything close to real broadcast quality). As it is a diary, the audio must be crystal clear.

Hosting is no issue - that is sorted; what's the best software for editing?

    Thanks Guys

Windows movie maker is pretty handy for someone who is not really tech savvy. It is just a case of importing your files and dragging and dropping them into the order you want them to be in, the programme also breaks up the recording into parts for you so you will find editing easier.

As for type of camera? something like this ?
