    Hi,

Is it possible to get a monthly Rail (Short Hop) and Luas (All Green Line) combination ticket, or would I have to buy a separate monthly rail ticket and a 30 day Luas ticket?

    Thanks.

There is a all Luas and Short Hop Rail ticket its €119.00 per month, given the rail only is €98.00 it is particularly good value

You won't find mention of it on the luas website, Luas Green only 30 days is €61 from what I remember

Thanks Marko. Any idea where I can buy the ticket? It is not available online, and I asked in Heuston Station ticket office today and I was told that there was no such ticket.

It exists since I can get a price for it, in fact its on a poster to be found in most DART coaches. Irish Rail booking offices are notorious for not knowing about certain tickets. If they can't find it insist they call someone in charge, make a fuss

There are all kinds of werid and wonderful tickets out there, like DART+ Airlink, DART + Nightlink

Edit: I can even produce a scan of the ticket

Thanks Marko, was no need for the scan I believed you :D

The fella in Heuston hadn't a clue. First he told me it wasn't possible to get a Luas/Rail combination, so I asked for a rail only one. Then he told me I couldn't get a monthly ticket from Hazelhatch to Heuston, only weekly ones were available. When I told him it was possible and it was called Short Hop, he went off to talk to someone about it. 5 mins letter he came back with a ticket and tried to charge me €113. I said I wanted rail only, and not rail and bus. He said that they were both the same price, so I might aswell get rail and bus. So I gave up and walked away..

Idiots... You would think that knowing all the tickets available would be a pre-requisite for a job of issuing tickets. Doesn't surprise me though, I ended up paying less than 1/2 price for a commuter ticket a few months ago because the guy in the ticket office didn't have a clue.

If you are going to be using those tickets regularly it might be worth your while looking into the taxsaver scheme. You can get nearly half the price of the tickets back in tax breaks but the tickets need to be bought through your employer.
