I recently purchased an Ibanez K7 in blade gray, in great nick(ill post some lovely pics soon for all you ibanez lovers), my question is this, the pick ups that are in it at the mo are DiMarzio PAF 7's, i was thinking about getting some EMG 81-7's for it.

The sound im after is around the Deftones, Fear factory, Strapping young lad type of sound.

I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with the EMGs?

One thing you might want to consider is that you'll have to get the body routed in order to fit the EMGs in, as the housings are much larger than regular pickups. That'll probably cost a bit to get done professionally.

i had a feeling that the EMGs wouldnt be a perfect fit, they seem quite large campared to the Dimarzios?

Iv looked around on the net for good prices on EMGs,anyone have any reccomendations?

I'd say you'd find some decent prices on Ebay, just make sure you buy from a reputable seller.

But I'd really suggest seeing how much it would be to get the body routed before dropping money on the EMGs. That way you don't get any nasty suprises.

Also... You just got a new guitar, WHERE ARE THE PICS!11!!1!

www.guitarpartsdepot.com is good for EMG's. You will have to get the body routed though, definately.

    hi gin

i have a full set of bill lawrences on order (h-s-h)

the bridge is the legendary XL-500L
(it dimebags' real pickup, not the shabby duncan effort)

apparently they are of exceptional quality
and theres not routing involved, (passive)

they take ages to get from the u.s. though
thats the snag, they are quite cheap too,

i will let y'all know how it goes

That'd be useless Fourmations, seeing as the K-7 is a 7 String guitar, and Bill Lawrence doesn't make pups for 7's

Hey Gintonious; that sounds like about what I payed for mine (Also perfect condition) so yeah, good bargain.
