Play.com have risen their Euro prices but kept the sterling prices the same,
I have noticed that the exchange i do on xe.com is about 2€ less then the play.com price, whereas it was about 40c.

And i have confirmed it in some titles i bought a few months back ,
the have gone up about 1.50 - 2€ but the sterling price is the same.

Seems they only reduced the prices after all the complaints to shut us up for a while, but now they have snuck back up... just letting people know..

Damn right !!! at first i just thought it was a good exchange rate for a day or so , but when i checked some items that i have bought, Planet Earth for example, the STG price is the same but the € has gone up!!!

Yep, Play have been pretty sneaky about this, they waited a few months,
now most people won't notice because people have gotten used to
ordering in EURO and not STG, only reason people noticed last time
was because they couldn't order in STG.

I have stopped using them for new stuff because of this. Only get things that are a bargain. They are based in the UK, so you'd expect that they would do all their business through sterling. The only reason they make us pay in Euro is to screw us!

Since Play first upped their prices a few months back I started using Sendit.com. Their exchange rates are very good and customer service is excellent too. They have some good bargains and generally beat play on price (for DVDs at least). Use them instead.

hmm yeah, still okay for bargains... or older DVDs

but for example departed new on play is 25€ , on sendit its 20€ !!!

Baxtards gave me a copy 'n' paste reply.
Due to a higher processing cost on Euro transactions and fluctuations
in the exchange rate there may be a difference in price when ordering
    in Euros.

Why change to euros in the first place? We are all happy to order in STG.

Play are really taking the piss to be honest. I've been ordering from them for years but I've had enough. From what I understand, they changed to "stg for U.K.; euro for Europe" because they came to an arrangement with UK revenue to pay VAT on shipments to the UK, i.e. sterling prices include 17.5% UK VAT. This is rip off number one: the same price in stg and euro, but the stg price contains added VAT, i.e. the 'base' euro price is effectively higher. Now they have the audacity to up this already inflated euro price??!! Goodbye Play...
