    Hello there,

I'm trying to get a blues band together, in North Dublin/Dublin city. If your interested, just send me a private message, you don't have to have any experience as such, we'll see what happens. All instruments considered.

It's really a chicago blues style band i'm looking for, Muddy Waters, Junior Wells etc. Ages 18-25ish, or older if you don't have a problem playing with college students!

DO NOT TAKE THE FOLLOWING TOO SERIOUSLY, FOR GOD'S SAKE!!
To all Guitarists: ABSOLUTELY NO SRV/Hendrix/Rory Gallagher worshippers NEED APPLY!!!

That just means I'm lookin for more of a classic blues than a blues-rock style thing.

That's a bit dumb is it not? Just because people love these particular artists doesn't mean that's all they love or indeed play. Chances are any blues guitarists who do contact you about the band would be particular fond of at least one of the above.

Wasn't entirely serious, you know, it's just that so many people's ideas of a blues band these days is a tribute band to one of them. I said no worshippers, not no fans. Anyway, if you've no interest in a blues band then this doesn't concern you. REAL blues fans will understand.

I play blues guitar(rhythm mainly), mouth organ and can sing quite well. I love muddy, robert Johnson, leadbelly, however, i also love hendrix, Santana, Rory and the like. I'd be into a jam if you fancy it.
Giz a pm if ya like.

heres my current band, not quite blues but the influence is there:

I've every interest in a blues band and attitudes like yours concern me greatly :D

    Oh for crying out loud...
Maybe that's why you can't grasp it? I consider myself a "real" blues fan, but I've never heard "fake" blues, I may like it.
To just disregard people like SRV and Jimi Hendrix is ridiculous altogether, even if you were only half serious it doesnt say much for your attitude to the whole genre. They were/are leaders in their field and if you were a "real" blues fan you'd bow your freakin head.

    Oh, but wait!

I guess Chicago blues is the term. It'll be hard to find people who play that stuff first hand (wish I was 25ish instead of 43ish) Anyway good luck with it!

I fail to see what your age has to do with playing music. If you like the genre and enjoy playing it, what's the problem
Tony Williams was 17 when he first played with Miles Davis and there were musicians in the band who were almost twice his age. :)

'Ageism', if you like, was never intented. I was just afraid that older, and possibly more experienced musicians would be put off by the idea of playing with an 18 year old student who has never played in a 'proper' blues band before, that's all. I don't want to waste anybody's time, that's all.

It's funny how one request for musicians can cause so much offence, isn't it?

This is direct to Savman and all the comments that he made about this post........

I'm a huge fans of Hendrix, Rory and the all the lot.......I play a les Paul and mostly electric..........I’ve have 27...so seems that I’m not in the profile….. right?

Sunday I met Dave and I have to tell you that he can play really good guitar and harmonica and have an incredible blues knowledge for have just 18!!!!He arrived to my house with an Mp3 stuffed of really good blues, that he let me download!!!!! Thanks again man….

    Some titles……..Otis Spann……Muddy Water…..Hound dog taylor………JL hooker….Junior Wells

What he meant with no Jimi and Rory worshippers was......that in the middle of a classic Chicago song the guitar player goes nuts start to feedback and drive is amp to ten with a wah wah...........

He likes mostly Junior Wells and Otis Spann........and many others.....

I would like to recommend to everybody that before judge people simply by the post...........give them a try!!!!!!!!

Has Bo Diddley said Can’t judge a book by the cover.......

If that's your idea of SRV then I pity you. Go and buy In Session Albert King & SRV.

    Tell that to your buddy.

Ok dude seems that we have a misunderstanding here.......

I got the session if this make you happy............that was SRV you are right for sure.........not every guitar player that try to imitate him......if you look around you will see that who try to emulate Stevie ray or Jimi simply.........drive is amp to ten with a wah wah and play the same pentatonic lick up down......tell me if I'm wrong.....

I know you going to reply with your reason and comments so be free.......

The blues god gives you the right to judge everybody and I think you are the only one that can see the light.

    Sorry for us poor ignorant

    I bow at your feet
