    Volkswagen recalls nearly 800,000 cars
Defective brake lights on Golf, GTI, Jetta, New Beetle and R32 are a potential safety hazard and should be replaced.

    Full story here

I had a Mk IV Golf (2001) and it was constantly blowing rear bulbs. You do see a lot of Golfs out there with missing rear lights. I wonder will this recall extend to Europe ?

WOW, had a '98 MK IV and '00 MK IV and couldn't understand why I was replacing bulbs every 2 months. Obviously, it wasn't costing too much to replace a light bulb, hence why I,along with thousands of other Golf owners, never really followed it up.

Have a MK V now and haven't had any trouble with it (so far!)
