really hope he does it. he's a true champ.

i'd love to see sylvia get totally outclassed. its been a long time coming.

    any opinions?

I think he will beat tim sylvia with a TKO and I hope he does it in round one aswell so that we dont have to see the tim sylvia "is champ" crap for the entire fight.
However,as soon as mirko cro crop gets his title shot,he is going to DESTROY whoever is the UFC champ at the time-whether its sylvia or randy.the only UFC heavyweight that I see putting up a decent fight against him is andre arlovski.

yeah its just a matter of time before cro cop is champ.

i reckon its randy's plan win the title and retire as champion.

    Yes, if he is Randy.

I reckon they offered Randy a gick load of moolah to come out of retirement to take the belt from Silvia so that we will get to watch a decent Heavy weight title fight with Mirko.
Personally, I can't wait, should be a great fight.

I don't think Randy will do it, he has a history of gassing and loosing to heavier guys and Sylvia is a monster. I could see him loosing a decision or being stopped in rounds 4 or 5. I hope not thoguh!

if randy left the hw division in 2002 becuase he couldnt compete with the size of hw fighters then it soesnt seem likely that, with the level of athletes in mma today (even in the ufc - who in recent years hasnt been up there with pride but is definetely bridging the gap as of late) he will be able to hang - now we all know not to count randy out but i dont expect him to take this one - and even if he does - he will be fed to cro cop - its a win win for zuffa but i dont want to see randys legacy tarnished by taking beatings from fighters who cre aften cutting down to make 265lb

Thats what I think will happen although I really would love to see him ground and pound his way to victory

    oh ye of little faith.

it's prediction time: Randy to win. second round stoppage G n P.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 20,759 ✭✭✭✭dlofnep

Will he? No. I don't see why anyone would think other wise. He got out of HW because the guys were just too big. Tim is a giant, and as lumbering as he is, has wins over a prime Ricco and Arlovski.

Tim will win, first round knockout.

I would love to be proved wrong, because Randy is a great guy - but I doubt I'll be wrong on this one.

Andre Arlofski could have beaten sylvia if he hadn't messed up his foot thigh kicking/knee cap kicking Sylvia and bruised/broke a bone in his foot...

Sylvia can not fight off the back leg...watch the monsoon fight he can't move backwards and counter punch

His ability to make angles is worse than my own and I'm pretty useless and an amatuer...

Dana White has been offering counture fights since the day he retired becuase he's a big draw and after watching monsoon randy thought he could take sylvia...

Randy will put him on the back foot with leg kicks [and eventually into a southpaw stance - which he is useless at] avoid the big right and secure a close takedown which monsoon failed to do...it may take 3 even four rounds but no better man than couture to secure some takedown....

If anyone noticed recently randy has bulked up and it's all muscle...so I doubt he'll gas during the fight...he's an intelligent man who plays an intelligent game....

Arlofski will get hammered by cro cop as they are both strikers but while arlofski likes to come out aggressive cro cop likes to start slow - so they are made for each...big strikes but a big win for cro cop

sylvia is not a popular choice of champ - effective - I can't fault his sprawl [or should i say well timed fall] against monsoon and the grappling ability he showed in that match too...yes we know he has ko power but at that size he really should have that anyway...

Another factor in couture vs sylvia is brandon the truth vera...who had one fight left on his contract and if he had signed an extension would have got the title shot...he stalled and in moved couture...vera apparently wanted equal if not superior money to sylvia [ who is the champ afterall]...

Vera is a talent who could easily make 205....so watch out for him

cro cop will eventually be champ...

    but couture vs sylvia...couture...

    Just my opinion...

    ciao

Rodriguez tried that and got knocked out.

Randy doesn't have the reach, precision or timing to hit Tim with leg-kicks without taking a straight right to the face.

I'm a BIG fan of Randy and I've never liked Tim, but safe money is on Tim for this.

I'm no fan of Silvia's but he's no longer the useless galoot he used to be and I don't see Randy having enough to beat him, especially since he'll likely be lacking the sharpness he'd need for top level competition.

I'd like to be wrong but I think Silvia will knock him out, probably late in the first or sometime in the second round.

Incredible, although I feel like a traitor for counting him out. Absolutely amazing, I giggled like a schoolgirl for the whole fight.

OMFG....WOW Didn't think I'd see such a beating from Randy against Silvia .
I know what the man can do but had my worries about the "ex-champ come back" thing. The respect that man deserves doesn't need any more proving. He knew going into this fight what he could exploit and my god did he show it.
How far can this man go at his age? I don't want to see a true champion been dragged down because of TV deals and big fight pay outs.
Or is this something to see Couture Vs Crocop??

Randy Couture is truly an inspiration. I don't have the words to do him justice.

If Cro Cop beats Gonzaga, it'll be Couture next.Thats a huge huge money fight. But all that is for another day. Today is all about Randy.

Guys I'll let this slip since it's been aired on UK television but in future keep results off prediction/speculation threads. Start a new thread and include a spoiler warning for those who haven't seen it.

This is what's commonly done on the television forums when discussing particular shows so it seems like good policy here.
