    One huge piece of advice.
    Never use a flash.

Aye, the flash and tight crop doesn't do the performer much justice.

crawdaddy was pretty dark, and i tried without flash , but they were a bit shaky , e.g.

    ISO Speed: 118

Andrew Kendall gets away with using flash allll the time. I'd love to have a go trying out flash at gigs but I say it'd be annoying to the bands/artists... plus most of the bigger venues don't allow it.

    here's one of Kendall's:

    He's quite awesome...

Just go to smaller gigs and talk to the band before hand they usually don't mind flash. Or else they might say first three songs only. Either way it can lead to some funky images

A bit too much PS as well :P

Welcome to gig photography! Use a flash and you loose the photo.

i didn't up the iso , so this caused the problem .. it was so dark and cramped it might have been hard to set without retreating to bar anyway .

Of course you can use a flash for gig photography. But more to highlight people and either cut through unnatural stage lighting, or brighten the photo slightly, but stop the flash down so as not to entirely interfere with the atmosphere.
