shot in raw presumably then? Lovely shot.. Want to take us through what exactly you did to it? Trying to get to grips with lightroom here myself at the moment.

Thanks Ryan.I adjusted the exposure extensively becauser the dynamic rang in the shot is quite large. i brought the highlights down using the exposure slider then used the fill light slider to bring back the darker areas. You lose a bit of contrast doing that so i then adjusted the curves and kept going from each of those 3 to the other till i was happy with the depth,or whatever you might cal;l it.the i adjusted the saturation slightly and the vibrancy too. The i whacked it into CS2 foir the final tweaks, sharpening ect. I have to say,i like lightroom a lot.i usually use camera raw and this is better. But it runs quite slowly for me,i'd say they'll be updating it quite regularly, but it's defo very user friendly IMO.

I hate to be that annoying person that suggests cropping bits of your lovely picture... but I'm going to. For me, anyway, the green at the bottom takes away from the beautiful bluey silvery thing that's going on with the sea and the sky, and I think it looks fantastic as a wide pano type thing with the horizon on the top third(ish). Just a suggestion for another take on it... is there something about the green rocks that you like in particular?

yeah,i just love that colour, be it seaweed on rocks or moss in the forrest. I don't know what it is about it,but someone maned Elven should probably have a good idea of what i mean :-) . In this shot,i just like all the different colours that are present in the one shot. They are all fairly subtle but they are there yellow, greens reds and obviously the blues . I think your suggested crop would work nicely, but for me the shot would lose some of the warmth that balances the coldness of the sky and sea.Just my opinion, we all see diff things, thats whats so cool about this lark !!

    cool shot Connor!!

was the blown out sky caused by the program?

and like you wouldn't be able to isolate that in lightroom would you?

Oh believe me, I love mossy green as much as the next elf ;) I thought there might be a particular reason you had it in there like that.

I know what you mean though, the different crop would essentially be an entirely new take on the scene. Two for the price of one, bonus!

The blown out sky was caused by me,and no program can get back what isn't there . Lightroom is a bit glitchy, but I reckon as tyhe relaease later versions it will be the top dog for raw processing, apparently,it's excellent for printing with.

Do you have enough headroom to bring back detail in the sky using exposure compensation Conor? If so, do a development to get the sky right, then one to get the foreground right, and export both to PS and merge them. LR will automatically stack all of these. I prefer not to use too much of highlght recovery and fill light, as you can get unwanted effects in other parts of the image (halos etc - especially if using both). That said, the fill light works much better in LR than the one in Rawshooter, which was pretty awful.

i can see the green on my laptop screen, but not really on my CRT, as it's very much in the shadow end of things - and the image looks better on the CRT anyway.
