I'm new to this site and as it happens I'm thinking about buying a Garmin 310. I've scoured the internet looking for the best value and have come across a site which offers the 310 for €350. It also comes with a DVD of Western Europe.

    The site is http://www.sheffieldgps.co.uk/item.do?item=136

I would appreciate any comments anyone has on this. Am I getting a good deal, how safe is it to buy the 310 from the uk, etc etc???
    All comments appreciated.
    Thanks
    coggy

hi coggy,im new too,i just bought the one your thinking of buying but from handtec.co.uk. got in 2days.not very impressed though.it is extremely complicated to use.i drive a taxi and if i type in an address i have to know the post code for the area im going to but if im not sure where it is how will i know the bloody post code.some thimes it finds the address sometimes not.most areas less than 2 years old are not on the system.it took me to a field last night and told me i was at my destination.may be they work if you just use it once in a while and its a novelty.but no, the whole process is to long winded to be efficiently used in a hurry.it wanted me to go down a long est. no turn right in town last week.takes me crazy ways to places.sometimes around in circles, seriously.i was on a motor way going to celbridge the other night and it took me of the motorway up the ramp and back bloody onto the same motorway again.aaargh.i would be hesitant to use it with somebody in the car, only to find their house to collect them. big problem.my unit keeps freezing, every 2 or 3 hours of use,i fixed it by pressing reset on the back.when it freezes it wont even turn off without reset.im not a happy camper.oh add about 20 euro to the price if your buying from england, and also add 50 euro to buy an sd card mine came without one and the site you where on doesnt supply one either.you can get them cheap on ebay but youl pay about 20 euro to get it shipped to you.a lot of other sellers in uk wont ship to ireland.my advice is to buy it here make sure it has v9 maps on it with sd card.maybe halfords where u can bring it back if your not happy with it.id rather have a hassle free experiance than save 50 euro. i wish i had have spent more time on this site before buying one.but maybe the other brands are as bad.see you.

    cheers ovrin,

I was thinking of that situation ,if I did have a problem with it, how could I get it sorted. I will take your advice on board and hopefully a few other members might give me their experience with the 310. But I will definitely buy one here, that is if I do go with the 310.

    Thanks again,
    coggy
