Mots flights between the UK and Ireland booked in advance are around 5 euro anyway, so no massive saving there. I hope it's on ALL flights, as I need to book a quick summer break.

    News Release
    21.02.07
1,000,000 FREE FLIGHTS WHEN ENGLAND CHOKE AT CROKE

FREE IRISH VICTORY FLIGHTS & ENGLISH ESCAPE ROUTES

Ryanair, Europe's largest low fares airline today (21st February) announced that it will give away 1,000,000 free* flights when Ireland beat England in the 6 Nations rugby clash in Croke Park this Saturday.

Announcing the pre match incentive, Ryanair's Peter Sherrard said:

"This is the first time that the English have been invited to Croke Park and we've no doubt that it will be an occasion to savour. To help the Irish team on to their 4th consecutive victory against England, we will give away 1,000,000 free* flights when they win. That way, the Irish fans can fly to England to boast about the win, while the English fans can avoid the television replays with free* escape flights!"

"The 1,000,000 victory seats will be made available from Monday morning, when we hope the whole of Ireland will have something to gloat about".

*One way, excludes taxes and charges

    That's from the Ryanair website

should be across the board, not just ireland to england, some nice trips to venice, rome or poland from shannon, with plenty of flights from dublin.

These often turn out not to be much of a bargain as it first seems:
They still usually exclude busy periods (weekends, holidays)
and normally 90% of the total price you pay for ryanair tickets is the fees, charges, taxes, levies, credit card booking fee, baggage charge, priority charge, etc etc so you wont actually be saving much

Yes.... but you could say it's about 500,000 return flights!

It wont make much difference as tickets are 0.19c each way at the moment so im only saving 38c.Thats so annoying as they advertise so much but its really all crap.they still add there charges and taxes.

As everyone has said before: it excludes taxes and fees etc which a lot of the time make up 90% or more of the price anyway and it excludes weekends and peak periods. Have been looking at a flight to Rome in the summer (unfortunately my dates aren't flexible as I'm going for a wedding) and the price has actually gone UP (I'm going on a Wednesaday, coming back on a Monday). Similarly, two weeks ago I booked a flight to Spain and paid 19cents for the actual flight (plust taxes, fees, etc, which came to 58 euros in total). That same flight is now 1ct... on the way over. The return is now 49 cents... I would have been 10 cents worse off if I had waited.

It's just one of Ryanair publicity strategies.
