Hey, I know this is a long shot, but does anyone know where I could get summer work experience in programming or software development? I'm in 3rd year in Trinity, have good results and programming skills in Visual Basic, C++, Java and COBOL. I want to pursue a career in IT so it would be great to actually get work experience in the field to enhance my career prospects.

    Any help appreciated.

    Try civil service

Galway Kerry and others take people on to do odd software dev jobs over the summer.

I did access vba a few years back(not telling) for summer work with two civil service/local authorities. If you do get them they look well on the c.v. come college leaving time.

watch local newspapers and ring half the phone book(expect lots of nos but dont let that stop you) i know i did back then and it payed off in the end.

EDIT:Can a mod bump this thread to programming
