    its a bitch

you need to update the firmware by connecting online with it before being albe to copy data to sd cards

its so unfair for people who cant get broadband , and therfore cant get online with it

I blame eircom...Will be heading up to my bro with my console so im expecting a heavy update considering ive never done it before
1mb connection wonder how long it will take

what can you use the sd card for besides putting music in excite truck and viewing pics?

MAy I suggest going to an internet cafe and seeing if they can fascillitate you and your Wii.

you can also put VC games opn them as far as I know.

Don't think you can put VC games on it. Else you'd be albe to transfer them from console to console. You can store save-game info on it as far as i know.

Virtual Console games are encoded onto your console, transferring games between console is impossible. Don't know about transferring game saves, i've no means to test it anyway.

You can put your VC games onto your SD card, as a kind of "backup" or to create more room on your console, but you have to copy them back on to the console in order to play them. You can't play from the SD card, and you can't play it on another console.

Save games can be transferred, but the game needs to be played at least once on the console before you caqn copy the save on to it, ie - the console must have had the space allocated already, even if you delete the save after.

Yeah you can use SD cards to hold VC games . THere is a kind of DRM that prevents you from using them on another console though.

update the Wii ware or the Card?
    and how?

HE means that you have to do one of those Nintendo updates of the Wii, not the card. As I dont have a Wii Im not shure how you do it, but you need to have it connected to the internet and then i think a message comes up when you turn it on to do an update.

    YES that is right christophicus
hopefully nintendo will make the updates avaible through the net in the future, so they could be put on sd card, and manually put on wii

Yeah that is a good idea, i never even thought about that.

also, ive heard from alot of people online that the updates arnt big[ in terms of file sizes]
so would only be a couple of megs an update, which would suit dial up peeps

Hmm these are all very valid point you make , although it does take around an hour to download a 5 meg file on dialup i think.

im on dial up,it dont take that long
but i use a download acculerator , and when downloading when broswing say 2 webpages, i will get speeds of about 4 kp/s, so it takes me about 20/30 minutes to download 5mb

why can you not use a card bigger than 2 gig?

just something nintendo chose to do, like many things with the wii im sure if they bothered to do a firmware update they could change that
