    trying to get going with the internet on the ps3

    how do i set it up
    i have the manual but this will be my first time ever setting up a console to play online (need a little help)

    so what do i need to get started

    im using Premier Broadband
    its a wired connection

    address setting easy or custom

    i picked custom

    will i pick auto detect or manual

    ip address settings automatic manual or PPPoE

    DhCp host name -no not set or set

    DNS setting -automatic or manual

    MTU-automatic or manual

    proxy server-do not use or use

    UPnP-enable or disable

    basicly i dont have a clue of how to do this

    any advice

    Try everything on Automatic first.

    I just plugged it into my router and it worked perfectly. Didn't have to fiddle with settings at all I don't think.

    but it says 'the attempt to obtain an IP address timed out'

    i taught i had but now i have to find out my proxy server address

    this is the error that comes on to my ps3

    a connection to the http proxy server cannot be established

    how do i find out my proxy server

    For IP address settings try PPPoE, thats what eircom use so it might very well be what Premier use.
