    Craze biography

From the moment he won the 1998 DMC World Championship the face of turntablism changed. Considered the underdog amongst his opponents (Shortkut, Dummy, and Develop) the young Nicaraguan native left the audience in awe of his ability to contort sounds into works of art. The DMCs would never be the same again! In those six minutes, Craze had brought forth a renaissance into the world of turntabilism, which many could hope to repeat, but none would ever come close to. That routine has been regarded as the best well rounded battle routine in the history of the DMCs, in other words The greatest ****ing Six Minutes in the history of Turntabilism!!! That year also heralded the coming of one of the most influential turntablist crews, The Allies. Started off by Craze and Develop, the crew was unlike any that had come before. Alongside the other members, A-trak, Infamous, J-Smoke, Spiktakular, and Klever, they created a superpower that would leave its stamp on the face of team battles. They had a swagger that was hard to ignore and the skills to back it up. The outflow of creative genius did not stop there though and the following year Craze defended his title with an envious zeal. Upon winning yet again, he left no room for doubt that his skills were genuine and not just beginners luck. He had proven himself amidst the birth of his daughter Angelee (for whom he dedicated the six minutes) just five days before. With two championships under his belt Craze had accomplished a feat that only one other person had done before (DJ David, from Germany, who won the solo competition in '90 and '91). On September 23, 2000, Craze made DMC history when he claimed the championship yet again for the third time, a feat that still remains to be duplicated. So you see, to include the word average in a description of DJ Craze would be an oxymoron. There are people who have moments of rare talent and then there are those who embody pure genius in their art form undeniably Craze falls under the latter without question! His is like the Midas touch; for it seems everything he puts his fingers on turns to gold. His gift was not just limited to a stage though. With his supremacy of the turntabalist world well established, Craze turned his attention to the studio and began working on battle records. Put out under Ammo/ Audio Research, the Bully Breaks series has become a must have for every battle Dj. Although he started out in Turntabilism and Hip Hop, he soon found his calling included the realm of Drum & Bass. As surely as he had conquered his prior forums, he found himself in the midst of greatness in the world of DnB earning the respect and admiration of his peers. He formed his drum & bass label, Cartel Recordings, with Juju in late 2001. The duo later added the talents of Infiltrata and GENR8. With all running smoothly, their seventh release is due out soon. Late 2005, brought about the formation of another crew: Tekdbz consisting of Photek, Infiltrata & Hochi, Craze, & Mental Sharp. Work has been on going within the crew with an album in the works that will include their many talents. Going back to the origins of his start, Craze has been in the studio working on hip-hop beats. He is working on a full-length hip - hop album with one of Miamis illest lyricists, Mic Rippa, on what is sure to be hailed as an album that harkens back to the Golden Age of hip-hop. True to his Miami roots though, Craze has also been working on a Miami Bass cd, which as of yet is untitled, but will soon be released. With all this, the man still boasts a travelogue the likes of a rock star with Iceland, Singapore, Bangkok, Japan, New Zealand, Australia, Russia, South Africa, Brazil, and Chile just to name a few of the places where he has performed. In fact, the only continent he hasnt been to is Antarctica and thats due to lack of a population! Wherever he might go he leaves a trail of people amazed by his humble demeanor and his unique unsurpassed blend of Hip Hop, Breaks, Drum & Bass and Turntablism. The man holds six DMC Championships under his belt need we say more.
