Does anybody have one of these or any experience with them?

I have a Creative Zen Sleek and it seems like a good idea for my car. The reason I picked this one is because it got quite a good review in the Evening Herald during the week. Apparently its an Irish company that makes them and they retail for 34 euros in the shops.

I use a 12 Euro cassette adaptor. I see some newer car systems have a 3.5mm jack socket on the front panel which is a good idea.

I seriously doubt an irish company makes them. I suspect an Irish importer has "encouraged" the Herald review.

It's budget Chinese OEM stuff badged by a Dublin trading company. According to Silicon Republic, the Dublin company designs the gear. That I really don't beleive either.

There is no shortage of these budget FM transmitters, mostly made using the same chip.

You want one either retunable or with 200channels or you will have problems finding a clear space on your radio dial for one of these gadgets.

4 channel or fixed channel models are a bad idea.

Whoa there, Watto, I didn't say the Jivo was Irish-made, just an Irish brand. The same unit is sold rebadged by half a dozen brands, some costing more than the Jivo, some less.

As mentioned in the review, it has 10 presets, which can be set at 0.1 increments. In my humble opinion it does offer better sound than a cassette adapter, only marginally hissier than high-end FM transmitters but obviously not as good as a direct lead into a car stereo.
