Hi Folks, I am a newbie here and I'm glad there is a page like this so I can get opions off ye guy's. Basically I play a Pearl Session Customs 10, 12, 14, 22bd, 14 snare with 8,10, Splashes 14hh & 14, 16, 18, crashes and a 20 ride all Zildjian K customs, a Lovely kit but I play in a band that is gigging at weekends doing Pubs, Parties, and Weddings, " I decided to take the rock boots off 2 years ago to make money doing music that allowed us to do weddings etc.. that's where the money is" But anyway I was thinking of selling that kit and buying an electric kit to cut down on time setting up and having less to carry, Plus I have to tune the Pearl kit nearly every night cause I mic everything and it is going through a 5K rig. I have compressors on the rig but sometime I am lacking on the sound from the toms. I never used a electric kit before so I don't really know what to expect. Have ye guys any views on what to do?

Puremule - was in same boat as you. Hung up the rock boots as well, (have Ludwig SuperClassic and Pearl CZX kits).

Got into the weddings, 21sts and Bahmizvah circuit and started playing my Yahama electronic kit.

The convienence is great. Set it up and plug it through the PA.

If I was buying electric again, I'd go for the Roland TD10. It's unbelievable, but very expensive. http://www.roland.com/products/en/TD-10_Set/index.html

When you say you're not getting much sound from your current 10,12 and 14 toms, where are you placing the mic and what heads are you using on them?
