    In thoery it uses the availible power of the engine to the greatest effect. All engine ECUs are programmed to be conservative, mainly to avoid potential (though unlikely) stressing and to able to run on bad quality fuel. There is plenty of headroon to exploit in most engines.

    Good chipping improves drivability bad chipping will land you with an undriveble car. All chipping voids the warranty so wait 3 years! :)

    The car's a 03 mondeo, wasn't planning on chipping it, just wanted to know.

    And under extreme weather conditions (very hot or very cold). Our moderate climate is very suitable for chipping :)
