February 23, 2007 - If the Virtual Console's lineup of NES, Genesis, Turbo Grafx, SNES and N64 classics wasn't enough for you, Nintendo has a few major additions planned for later this year. The Nintendo.jp website was updated today with news that MSX titles will start appearing on the Japanese version of ths service this Spring. And in the summer, SNK Playmore will start its support with Neo Geo games!

MSX support was announced a while back, but this is the first we've heard of an actual time frame. Nintendo also revealed today that the first MSX games for the service will be Eggy and Aleste. Both are due out this Spring and will cost 800 Wii points each. This is about the same price as Super Famicom games.

Neo Geo support was widely expected, but never officially confirmed prior to today's update. Nintendo did not share specifics on what games will be available starting in the summer.

The Japanese Virtual Console lineup differs from that of other territories. We'll be sure and let you know when MSX and Neo Geo support will begin appearing in the English speaking world.
Pretty cool.... there were some fantastic NeoGeo games - Pulstar, Blues Journey, Puzzle de Pon, Last Blade (1&2), Viewpoint, Shock Troopers, plus a whole bunch of Metal Slug games (which will probably not appear until Metal Slug Wii is OOP).

Excellent news. There are some really excellent MSX games especially Shmups. Konami released a load of forgotten classics on it. Bring on Space Manbow I say!

Would love a few Neo Geo shmups and Beat 'em ups. Any Samurai Showdown would be excellent.

Great news. I hope memory doesn't become an issue as it has on other consoles that have attempted to emulate the newer Neo Geo games. I also wonder about cost. Neo Geo games originally costed hundreds of euro. I hope Nintendo don't put the games up higher than €10 (1,000 Points)

The Neo Geo games only cost hundreds of pounds because the came on cartridges with huge memory capacity which back then cost a fortune. The cartridges were basically the same as for the arcade machines other than some anti piracy features.

How likely are these to appear in the European territory? I don't have a Wii yet but would gladly buy one if the right NeoGeo games are available.

I'd say 100% likely. MSX was more popular in Europe than the rest of the world and the Neo Geo console was available in Europe and every arcade had Neo Geo games.

I wonder if Nintendo or a 3rd party will release an arcade stick for the Wiimote. Playing a perfect version of King of the Fighers with a wireless arcade stick would be class :D
