I am a photography noob. I wanted to give it a shot, and I had some money saved up, so I read up on stuff and bought a Canon EOS 350D and the kit lens. Been sick for a while, and then work and bad light so didn't get much time to try it out (the stock lens seems to suck for indoor/low light stuff)

it was sunny this morning so i went to the park with my dog and little brother... took about 90 shots, 7 or 8 keepers (lol)

so these are basically the first proper photos i've taken

Mostly i think they turned out alright, but i'm having trouble getting them defined and crisp, at full size they're a little blurry... any tips for that? i was using autofocus because i can't manually focus on a running dog.

ISO was at 200 and 400, max aperture, shooting at between 1/125 and 1/250th i think.

also, i have ArcSoft photostudio that came with the camera... how do i use that to turn pics black and white?

also, i got a free 50mm f/1.8 lens off a friend, i'll take some shots this weekend with that if i see some bands.

    constructive criticism appreciated.

Welcome along man. 7 or 8 out of 90 isn't bad let me tell you. I often have a day out and am happy with nothing at all!

some good first pics you got the shots quite sharp nice...

    Hope to see more.

The manual for ArcSoft photostudio should help out with the BW conversion.

On monday night in the TBMC there will be a Tool tribute band playing. I'll be heading in to practice with my 50mm 1.8. Might be good practice for you as well cos it's relatively well lit.
