Homebond

Does anyone have any experience dealing with Homebond when it's very obvious the structure of a house built (and covered by Homebond) is in serious dire straits.

I'm talking major shifting, floors lifting, massive cracks in outer and inner supporting walls.

Independant engineers have advised a full rebuild, but Homebond are giving the owner(s) the complete run around.

    All advice appreciated.

As far as I know you have to do a lot for homebond to act.

An engineer saying it needs to ne rebuilt but as you said you have done all the investigations.

It takes a while for them to act as well

Get a good solicitor who knows about construction guarantees. ASAP.

Realise that bond is dependent on a guarantee the builder gave to Homebond who will refund Homebond for any payouts (in addition a bank or insurer might be involved who have a mortgage over an asset the builder has). If the builder goes bust Homebond have problems financing repairs.

Short term, is the property safe to live in?

Yes, property is safe to live in (for now).

There is more than one house invloved (in the same estate).. and Homebond have been giving them each different stories on what they will and won't cover. This has only come to light recently, now that all owners are in better contact with each other.

The same guy in Homebond was/is dealing with each. .. and he's been caught out now. He cannot be trusted.

It's on to find a good Solicitor, as you say... with construction experience/knowledge.
