    Hi
Really depends on what you want. We went on holiday to France some years ago to a key camp mobile home in Normandy. Great site and faculties but it rained 12 days and nights I kid you not. Went down south the next time and the weather was fantastic stayed at this campsite http://www.pachacaid.com/ukindex.htm its on the cote d’Azur about a 2 hour drive from Nice it a lovely site up in the mountains and has a water park on site. If you want to be assured good weather you will have to head south.

thanks lads, south it is, though i dont want to go on a camping holiday.i have a fear of spiders and or anything with more than 4 legs.we want to rent out a cottage and hire a car and discover france, well the france near the cottage anyway, to about a 50 mile radius.the lot area looks nice with all the shallow rivers that the locals use instead of the beach.any ideas on car hire?cheapest quote for 2 weeks is 650 euro plus extras.thanks again.

This site should be all you need if looking for a cottage ot countryside residence and most of it is in English.

http://www.gites-de-france.com which will take you to http://www.gitesdefrance34.com/ (for Languedoc region)

A 3 bedroomed cottage for 6 people will set you back about €326 (first place I found when searching). What you're looking for is a gite. Rental periods for “gîtes ruraux” are generally from Saturday to Saturday.

The wife and I stayed down in Languedoc for a week last September and since then Paris has lost it's spark for her (we're going back in April!) though I can't promise that the kids will love it but I guess that's up to what they want out of a holiday and what facilities are in the area.

Some places that I saw are :

Believe it or not but the cheapest carhire company that I've found in France is an Irish one :)

www.novacarhire.com is the site and I've been using them for over a year now (about 8 times in all).

If you don't like camping, rent a mobile home in one of the campsites. My parents brought us to campsites in France and they were the best holidays I ever had. Loads of kids to play with, swimming pool, soccer, tennis and sometimes water slides if you choose your campsite carefully. I know we went to gites in the later years and we were so bored. People don't bring kids to gites so if you want your kids not to be bored then bring them to a campsite. Some campsites even have gite like accomodation sometimes
