When muscles stretch, tension releases restoring relaxation and peace of mind. Breathing practices release pent up emotions, strengthens the diaphragm and lifts the mood. They are particularly important for people who have to remain seated all the time.

While research demonstrates that exercise, at any stage, maintains, and improves the health of the body-mind it can be hard to think just can be done, SAFELY. Wheelchair Yoga is the ideal way. This workshop is suitable for anyone whose mobility has been impaired by Acquired Brain Injury, stroke, arthritis, Parkinsons, Motor Neuron disease, MS and many other afflictions to which the human frame is heir. When confidence has been shattered by life’s events Wheelchair Yoga can help to rebuild core strength, improve muscle tone, memory and respiratory function.

In a small group there is also the benefit of social interaction, which adds to raising those vital feel-good factors.

Class take place in residential care homes for the older person, and in day care, and “seraph.ie: the yoga studio” provides Chair Yoga classes.

On Sat 3rd March, Jean will facilitate an interactive workshop that will focus on sharing the experience of exercise, inspiring each other to make the most of our strengths and abilities.

This venue is wheel chair accessible with good parking in the city centre (beside Griffith College). The management of Bell Villa are giving their kind permission to use the premises.

PLEASE DO NOT CALL AT OR VISIT BELL VILLA FOR INFORMATION They will be unable to assist you.
